This hat is made to retain as much of the tie-dyed fabric’s texture as possible without the need for yunoshi (a process in which the fabric is steamed to remove wrinkles and adjust the width before the yukata is made).

Arimatsu Shibori has been made as a specialty of the Owari clan since the Edo period.
It is said that tie-dyeing was introduced to the people of Kyushu Bungo (Oita) when Nagoya Castle was built about 400 years ago.
